Tulane needs big wins against ECU, LSU in next five days
To salvage any chance of an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament, Tulane has to go from home worriers to road warriors in the next five days.
Swept by UCF at Turchin Stadium, the Green Wave (27-14, 5-7 Conference USA) may need to sweep East Carolina (27-14-1, 9-5-1) this weekend and add a victory over LSU at Alex Box Stadium next Tuesday to impress the selection committee. A resume that leads off with three wins over Southeastern Louisiana is not good enough.
It's a tall order, but the players saw only small differences between them and the Conference USA leader Knights last weekend after losing three games by a combined four runs.
"Our confidence is up," shortstop Brennan Middleton said. "We played some good ball games. It wasn't like we got blown out. We'll try to focus on what we have to do each game and not worry about what we have to do the next game or later in the season."
