Wave whips Wofford, extends streak to five

Tulane was plodding along against Wofford, tied at 36 near the midpoint of the second half in what could have been a classic letdown game after winning at Alabama last Sunday.

That's when Josh Davis and Ricky Tarrant took over.

Davis, who had been 2 of 11 from the floor, drove the baseline for an emphatic dunk to give the Green Wave the lead for good, 38-36. Tarrant, who had four turnovers and one assist in the first half, then hit three consecutive-pointers that barely rippled the net, with his second trey raining in from about 28 feet. Davis finished off the Terriers with four free throws during the decisive 18-2 run.

Timmons, who has almost none of the explosiveness he exhibited before rupturing an Achilles tendon last January, will have to reinvent himself as a defender and distributor to help the Green Wave this season. Bruha, coming back from a serious knee injury, had not gotten that high off the floor all year.
