No confirmation yet on Chris Davenport's transfer
Guerry Smith
TheWaveReport.com If unconfirmed reports prove to be accurate, Tulane is about to land its first 5-star player since Rivals.com started rating prospects in 2002.
According to numerous stories, LSU's Chris Davenport is transferring to Tulane this semester. Davenport, who graduated in December with a degree in general studies after four unproductive years (one as a redshirt) with the Tigers, would attend graduate school at Tulane and be eligible immediately for one final season.
Tulane's highest rated recruits in the last 12 years were quarterback Lester Ricard, who transferred from LSU in 2003 after spending one year with the Tigers, and defensive back Darion Monroe, who reneged on a commitment to Texas A&M last February and signed with Tulane and first-year coach Curtis Johnson. Rivals listed both as 4-star players.
No one at Tulane confirmed Davenport's transfer on Tuesday, with one source referring to it as "possible."
Davenport likely would play defensive tackle for the Green Wave.
