Tulsa makes up for scoring woes with sticky defense

They won't admit it, but they probably know it.

To maintain any realistic chance for a breakthrough season, Tulane (12-5, 0-2 Conference USA) has to beat Tulsa (11-7, 3-1) at Devlin Fieldhouse on Saturday afternoon. Coming off back-to-back 3-13 conference finishes under third-year coach Ed Conroy, where would the Green Wave find the self-belief to go on the road and compete with league-favorite Memphis next Wednesday if it falls to 0-3 in the league?

Nowhere. That's where.

"Every game is important," forward Kendall Timmons said. "We're trying to win every game and have a successful year, but we don't really look past each game. That's what coach harps on a lot. We've gotten into the mindset of one game at a time."

No one would bite on the idea of Tulsa being a must-win game. If they treated it that way, what would they say if they lost?
