Timmons has Achilles surgery, done for year

Kendall Timmons, a junior guard for the Tulane men's basketball team, will miss the remainder of the season after undergoing successful surgery on Monday to repair the Achilles tendon in his right leg, it was announced today by head coach Ed Conroy.

Timmons suffered the injury late in the first half of the Green Wave's overtime loss to Southern Miss on Jan. 7.

The Ft. Worth, Texas, native was Tulane's leading scorer with 13.6 points per game and was also pulling down 5.2 rebounds per outing. He also just became the 32nd player in school history to reach the 1,000 career points milestone.

"This is obviously a big blow to this team as Kendall is unquestionably one of the top players in our league," Conroy said. "I know he will have a great recovery and will be back next season for his senior year. This injury, along with Tomas (Bruha) will allow opportunities for other players to step up and fill the void."

Bruha, a junior transfer center, has not played since Dec. 11 against Jacksonville State due to a reoccurring injury to his right knee.

Conroy and the Green Wave return to action Wednesday when they visit the Reynolds Center in Tulsa, Okla., to face Conference USA foe Tulsa at 7 p.m. CT.
